Active Members: Active members shall consist of law enforcement officers, with the power of arrest, in the service of the Federal Government, the State of North Carolina, and Bureau or Agency thereof; or any County, Municipality, or other local government subdivision within the State of North Carolina; or any officer certified by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commision.

Associate Members: Associate members shall consist of supportive personnel in the service of the Federal Government, the State of North Carolina, any Bureau or Agency thereof; of any County, Municipality or other local government subdivision within the State of North Carolina.

Life Members: Life Members shall consist of an active or associate member, who has retired in good standing, after serving twenty (20) consecutive years in the Association or retired from his/her North Carolina state or local agency, because of a physical disability/medical disability/psychological disability in the line of duty, with a minimum of five (5) years consecutive membership in the Association.

Honorary Membership: Non-law enforcement advocates who have demonstrated significant support for the advancement of the law enforcement profession and or the Association.

Auxiliary Association: Consisting of spouses and significant others who participate in and support activities of the Association.
